Let me know if i’m speaking to your heart…
You are the type of mom that loves and plays hard. Moments matter most to you. Moments of singing, dancing, playing, laughing, and loving. You want to collect MOMENTS, not things.
You’re an adventurer, yet you equally love to stay at home to cuddle your little ones. You encourage your family to seek out the beauty in life, reach for the stars, chase the sun, jump in the lake, and climb mountains.
Let’s capture the hugs, laughs, and smiles that unfold with the people that matter most - your FAMILY. Let’s go chase the setting sun and explore the fields so we can capture the honest version of you and your family.
Feeling all the feels? Then we might make a perfect match…Let’s work together!
What do we do?
We meet up at a location of your choice or from a list that I provide to you. It can be your favorite park, field or beach (yes I love the water)! Many of the photos you see in my work are from the locations I provide to you. These locations are perfectly curated to bring about the most beautiful backgrounds and give you and your family the most amazing photos to display around your home. I love documenting families and finding those sweet moments of your babes doing what they love. Kids are authentic and documenting how they play, have fun, and explore is the most beautiful story to capture.
Who are these sessions for?
These sessions are perfect for laid back families with small children. They are perfect for families who love the lifestyle approach - sweet moments of you interacting together - and in most of your photos, you will not be looking at the camera. These sessions are for moms who want to capture true moments of their family. These sessions are perfect for those looking to show up and love up on your family!
When should I have my family session?
It all depends on what season you love best! Most sessions occur in the summer and fall. Sessions occur 2 hours prior to sunset at an outdoor location. There is absolutely no wrong way to document your family!
If you’re looking for an in-home session, check out the child documentary page by clicking HERE for more information on what I would recommend to capture your kids living their best life and doing what they love to do.
I’m worried my kids won’t cooperate.
Kids are unpredictable. That’s why lifestyle photography is so unique for capturing them at a young age. Kids are not meant to sit down and stare at a weird person taking their picture for over an hour. They are meant to explore and move and jump and pick flowers and all the things. That’s why I love to talk and hang out with them for a few minutes before the session. I typically like to show them my camera and what I’m doing with it. They love to see themselves on the back of the camera! Sometimes I even let them take a picture!
Since lifestyle family sessions occur around 2 hours prior to sunset, kids are up a little later during the summer months than usual. Being able to adjust your schedule for the day is very important. Making sure they get a nap (and snacks) in before the session is very important in having your children ready for staying up a bit longer.
Never stress over your child’s behavior at a session! Kids are kids. They are not meant to sit still for long periods of time and I don’t expect them to. Most of the time, I will follow your children around while I capture their small details. Giving them time to explore and just be in the moment is important in capturing some of your most cherished photos.
What should we wear
This is by far the most common question! And the most difficult one for most mamas. I’m here to walk you through your wardrobe selection and make things easy for you! You can find a link to my Family Style Guide Here and read through some of my tips to selecting your attire for your session. The most important advice I can give you is to always, Always, ALWAYS, start with mom. Once mom has her outfit picked out, then we’ll start styling everyone else from that. I’ll help you come up with a color palette and find out what style you’re looking for. I also have a small client closet filled with dresses for mama and a few dresses/rompers for the girls for those interested a selection of outfits they don’t have to buy or shop for.
Every moment matters.
It’s these moments that matter the most. The moments of being parents while your kids are little. These moments can drift away until it hits you 3 years down the road when you look back and wonder where the time went. A family session allows you to get images that capture you all as you are now. It’s a time capsule in a photo. It’s a family heirloom to pass down to future generations.
